A sustainable, fruitful future is for everyone. This ethos underpins Fruit of the Loom’s ethical and sustainable story. More than ever, people are questioning where their garments come from, how they were made and who made them. With a supply chain that’s 100% transparent, we can share the whole story.

Over 90% of Fruit of the Loom styles are made at their facility, including the best-selling Ringspun T range, which is ethically produced at their state-of-the-art Morocco plant.

Control over how the garments are made ensures quality, colour and consistency across t-shirts, sweatshirts and polos. It also guarantees they’re made with fairness and respect for the people they work with, while having a positive environmental impact.

ZERO WASTE

For four years, Fruit of the Loom has successfully exceeded the Zero Waste International Alliance business recognition programme target of diverting 90% of all discarded resources from landfill.

Better still, since they began their zero waste commitment, they set
themselves a higher target of 95% – which they have exceeded once again, for the fourth year in a row.

How does it work?

  • Special technology cuts patterns efficiently.
  • 3D modelling software reduces samples.
  • Any textile waste is recycled into new yarn fibres for repurposing.

WATER

Fruit of the Loom is one of the few companies in the world using a modern water recycling plant, which means that it can reduce consumption and help preserve natural resources.

Up to 60% of waste water is recycled by Fruit of the Loom’s modern treatment plant and, as a result, the riverbed located next to their Morocco facility is once again alive with fish and wildlife.

WIND

Using wind energy to power its Morocco manufacturing plant, Fruit of the Loom has saved 11 tons of carbon per year; and, while 75% of renewable energy use is certainly positive, Fruit of the Loom is exploring ways to achieve even more. They are currently developing plans to add solar power to their production, helping to make them even cleaner and greener.

RECYCLING

Fruit of the Loom works to a ‘reduce, reuse and recycle’ policy. Throughout the manufacturing plant, reusable containers are in operation. Since 2020, carton liners and polybag packaging have been eradicated and the company is working towards minimising plastic bags and stretch films. More recently, they have converted to plastic from at least 60% recycled post-consumer waste.
